Melbourn Squash Club was formed in 1985 when a group of like-minded squash enthusiasts got together to organise the funding and building of the 2 squash courts. The founding members included the Warden of Melbourn Village College whose enthusiasm and influence permitted the building of the squash club on College land.
Melbourn Squash Club is a privately owned members club but with close links to the adjacent Leisure Centre which is owned and operated by Melbourn Village College. With a strong presence in local Leagues, a campaign was launched in 2019 to encourage young people to play squash. The Club provides junior coaching as part of the Village College’s enrichment programme and for children of Club members. The coaching is funded by generous grants from Melbourn Parish Council who have recognised the importance of encouraging young people to engage in sporting activities.
